Time for a change perhaps?

Am thinking of redesigning the site with possibly one of the other templates available in Blogger. Thoughts or tips anyone? Any usability thing I should probably include?

Ok. I admit it. Have nothing great to say. Just couldn't bear the empty comments section on your blog :-)

How about one of those "there are currently 5 people visiting this site" counters?

HI Sidin...

I'd suggest a bright coloured template yet simple-not-fancy template.. there re a numebr of choices.. i use the basic minima template, its where you can play with maxima.. :-)

basically it depends on how u love ur own creation... :-)

How about theme 'Gladiator'?
A 'shoutbox' for times when the comments section doesnt work, which is very often nowadays with blogger.com?
A 'hitmap' maybe, for u to know which part of the world is reading u?
A 'Blogs i read' section maybe?
Make the comment window a popup.
And and... update ur picture on the profile, u r not sixteen anymore!

as someone who used the exact template as your for avery long time.. i relaly got tired of the MINIDOTS.GIF and fiddled around with it til it looked a bit more presentable.. CSS is irritating with Blogger i say....put a Taggy up... i had this animated acharacter fly in and out every now and then.. saying bawdy things to various people who happened to pop in.....lol...

A decent *readable* template with a white/light colored background and medium sized 'serif' fonts is what you need imo

You might also check my current blog - I've modded a version of Kubrick from Blogger templates.

Changing the photo is a good idea... a full length one would be nice... ;).

Something bright... and snazzy.

A list of most-read posts (e.g Single Indian Men etc).

More ideas as they come...

I second the light background idea. Makes it inconspicuous, hence easier to read while at work!

1. Change the photo for pete's sake and get a bigger brighter one mabbe with one of your flower shirts.
2. Get a count of number of ppl presently watching the page.
3. get a link which shows towards your best 5 articles.
4. get a lighter background, mabbe a light brown or something will be much easier on the eye and yes inconspicous
5. write a lot abt yourself on your profile and keep it as a link instead of showing it on the home page ( I am talking abt the St. Thrissur - B2B - .... ATK, take tht out). we wud like to know a lot more abt you, so tht wud help.

6. mabbe a lil bit abt family, friends etc. with some snaps as a link

7. RCP, yes.. but a lighter background plz.

8. and plz post more frequently.

Chugs' designs are quite neat and tidy - colors tend to be quite ok on the eye - but they are either extremely cramped for space (a 400 pixel width blog???) or not very user friendly (e.g. The IndiBloggies site).

I'd recommend The Template Queen (Desi Edition) instead.

Of course, all that is too much work. You need to spend at least a good month coming up with a custom design - even if you have the basics of website design down pat.
Forget redesigning the blog. Just pick a blogger template (or one of the many free ones available online) and let it flow.

And yes, the current template is quite sad. If it looked clean and formatted on my Sage feed, (or for that matter FeedView), I'd not even need to come to the blog itself.

@ Rajesh J Advani - Thanks for the compliments.
I don't really know what you mean when you say the Indibloggies site is not "user friendly". Care to elaborate?

As for my blog, well the narrow single column is the design for this month. I change the design almost every other month and experiment quite a bit. I think you missed the earlier designs.

The size is irrevalant as long as the design serves the purpose.

Thanks.

A Mallu lungi as someone suggested would be a nice idea. Just kidding ;-D , Make it more reader friendly preferably with a light colour or white backgrond.
